Business Model#

What the company does and how it earns its money; written AI-editorially, exclusively from the company's original reports, without any assessment of our own.

Circus SE develops and deploys autonomous AI-powered cooking robots for commercial food service, institutional kitchens, and defence applications. Its primary product line includes the CA-1 robot, designed to prepare standardised meals at scale, and the CA-M variant targeting military and defence use cases, with multiple barrack integration contracts secured across NATO member states. Revenue is generated through robot deployments, with financing structures – including bonds placed through FINEXITY and a leasing partnership with MVV Leasing – used to facilitate customer adoption. The Q1 2026 acquisition of Alberts Robotic Blending Technology expanded the company's hardware capabilities. Beyond hardware, Circus is developing standalone AI software products, beginning with Circus Visual Intelligence, a computer vision product built on proprietary models trained on operational footage from its own robot fleet. The Circus Pods bag-in-box system, a consumable supply offering, entered development in Q1 2026 with a 2026 launch targeted. The company operates at the intersection of food technology, industrial robotics, and defence, with an expanding international footprint and an established entry path into the U.S. market following certification and ADE Level 3 listing secured in Q1 2026.

Circus SE's most recently reported revenue was 1.1 EUR million (3); Q1 2026 operational metrics showed system uptime of 92.5% in March 2026 with nearly 20,000 meals produced across deployed units (10). Production capacity increased 60% during Q1 2026, with revenue guidance for financial year 2026 stated at 44–55 million EUR (10). Material announcements for the quarter included U.S. market certification with an ADE Level 3 listing and the active integration of 17 AI-robots with the Bundeswehr, with the first military site operational (10).
Management commentary on the 2025-H1 results (IR-Half, 2025-12-19):
„In addition, we received a federal research grant to further advance our defense-related developments.“ – Nikolas Bullwinkel, CEO AND FOUNDER 9
„In parallel, preparations are underway for deployments with additional European armed forces starting from early 2026.“ – Nikolas Bullwinkel, CEO AND FOUNDER 9

Guidance
For FY2026, the company guides Revenue to 44-55m EUR (initiated). 10.
Leverage
As of the most recently filed period, Circus SE held cash of 0.2 EUR million and net debt of -0.2 EUR million, reflecting a net cash position (3). During Q1 2026, the company successfully placed its first bond through the FINEXITY platform to finance AI robotics deployments and entered a leasing partnership with MVV Leasing (10). No Net-Debt/EBITDA ratio is derivable from the available inputs.
Management view
More than 10 additional NATO allies are in active negotiations for AI-robot deployments (10). Circus signed a new headquarters in Munich, doubling R&D space, and announced Circus Visual Intelligence – a standalone AI computer vision product built on five proprietary models trained on 45,000+ hours of operational footage – planned for Q2 2026 launch (10). The CA-M defence variant completed P0 functional tests during Q1 2026, with first CA-M V1 deliveries targeted for Q3 2026, and multiple military contracts were won for barrack integrations of the CA-1 in military configuration (10).
Risks (current)
The company faces pipeline realization risks and undisclosed customer concentration exposure within its expanded order book (9). Continued scaling requires substantial capital investment, and as an early-stage producer ramping commercial operations, Circus remains exposed to liquidity and financing risks; serial production and customer delivery timelines are additionally dependent on manufacturing partner Celestica's performance (9). Entry into the defence sector and Ukrainian operations introduces emerging regulatory and compliance requirements, and product capabilities carry heavy reliance on NVIDIA technologies and the Meta AI partnership (9).
New this reporting period
Operator AI, developed in partnership with Meta, reached final integration stages and was launched during Q1 2026 (10). The acquisition of Alberts Robotic Blending Technology was completed in Q1 2026, following which development of the Circus Pods bag-in-box consumable system was initiated (10).

FY2026

For fiscal year 2026, Circus SE issued an inaugural revenue guidance of 44–55 million EUR, its first formal annual financial target for the period (10). Operationally, system uptime reached 92.5% in March 2026 with nearly 20,000 meals produced, and production capacity expanded by 60% in Q1 2026 (10). The company placed its first AI-robotics financing bond with FINEXITY and entered a leasing partnership with MVV Leasing to fund fleet growth (10). Strategically, Circus obtained U.S. market certification and launched an ADE Level 3 U.S. listing, while simultaneously expanding into the defence sector with 17 AI-robots active and in integration within the Bundeswehr, supported by multiple military barrack contracts and more than 10 NATO allies in active negotiations (10). Additional strategic steps included the completed acquisition of Alberts Robotic Blending Technology and the announcement of Circus Visual Intelligence, the company's first standalone AI product built on five proprietary AI Vision Models (10).

FY2025

In FY 2025, Circus SE launched its CA-1 Series 4 fully industrialized embodied AI system in April and completed the ramp from factory setup to first customer shipments within approximately six months, delivering units to enterprise customers including REWE supermarkets (9). The company raised approximately EUR 48 million in gross proceeds through two capital increases: EUR 18.7 million in March 2025 and approximately EUR 29.5 million placed on 10 December 2025 (9). Circus established Circus Defence SE as a dedicated entity, presented the CA-M autonomous tactical troop supply system, and built operational presence in Ukraine, marking entry into the defense sector (9). The company acquired FullyAI during H1 2025 to extend its CircusOS AI software platform and expanded its international patent portfolio to more than 36 patents (9). The consolidated net loss for the first half of 2025 amounted to EUR 10,658 thousand (9).

FY2024

In fiscal year 2024, Circus SE reported consolidated revenue of EUR 251 thousand, down from EUR 634 thousand in 2023, as the company shut down its test-site operations in July 2024 and redirected resources toward CA-1 system development and production ramp-up 7. EBITDA loss widened to EUR -11,915 thousand (2023: EUR -4,051 thousand) and the net loss expanded to EUR -15,229 thousand, reflecting higher personnel costs and scaling investments in manufacturing infrastructure and technology development 7 8. Equity contracted from EUR 17,639 thousand to EUR 2,410 thousand, reducing the equity ratio from 80% to 15%, as the EUR 9,048 thousand convertible bond was fully placed by year-end 7. During the year, Circus completed its Xetra listing in January 2024, reported a CA-1 order backlog of 5,430 units at end of H1 2024, and signed manufacturing and distribution partnerships with Celestica, REWE, and Tamoil/HEM 5 7. A termsheet for the planned acquisition of Campo Group, a German AI and robotics company, was announced in November 2024, subject to final agreement 5.

FY2023

Circus SE generated statutory revenue of EUR 0.6 million in FY2023, derived entirely from the in-house operation of test kitchens for technology validation; no commercial revenue was recorded in the period (8, 2). The company acquired Aitme GmbH in August 2023, integrating it as Circus Robotics GmbH, and converted to Societas Europaea while completing a direct listing on the Munich Stock Exchange on 22 December 2023 (2, 3). Net loss for the year reached EUR 5.0 million, with pro forma EBITDA of EUR -12.7 million reflecting development-phase investment in Circus Robotics and Circus OS (2, 3). Free cash flow was EUR -6.8 million; the company ended FY2023 in a net cash position of EUR 0.2 million, supported by a EUR 5.5 million equity raise and EUR 9.05 million in convertible notes during the year (2). Following the balance sheet date, preliminary agreements for over 5,000 CA-1 units were secured with partners including Beijing universities and BER Airport, with commercial market launch targeted from 2025 (2).
